Two polynomial representations of experimental design

چکیده

In the context of algebraic statistics an experimental design is described by a set of polynomials called the design ideal. This, in turn, is generated by finite sets of polynomials. Two types of generating sets are mostly used in the literature: Gröbner bases and indicator functions. We briefly describe them both, how they are used in the analysis and planning of a design and how to switch between them. Examples include fractions of full factorial designs and designs for mixture experiments. AMS Subject Classification: 62K15, 13P10

EEH: AGGH-like public key cryptosystem over the eisenstein integers using polynomial representations

GGH class of public-key cryptosystems relies on computational problems based on the closest vector problem (CVP) in lattices for their security. The subject of lattice based cryptography is very active and there have recently been new ideas that revolutionized the field. We present EEH, a GGH-Like public key cryptosystem based on the Eisenstein integers Z [ζ3] where ζ3 is a primitive...

Effect of blade profile on the performance characteristics of axial compressor in design condition

The choice of geometrical shape of the blades has a considerable effect on aerodynamic performance and flow characteristics in axial compressors. In this paper, the effects of the blades shape on the aerodynamic design characteristics are investigated based on Streamline Curvature Method (SCM). Initially, the Streamline Curvature Method (SCM) is used for designing a two-stage axial compressor. ...

Computer- originated aspheric holographic optical elements

R. C. Fairchild* J. R. Fienup Environmental Research Institute of Michigan Radar and Optics Division P.O. Box 8618 Ann Arbor, Michigan 48107 Abstract. Holographic optical elements (HOEs) recorded with arbitrary aspheric wavefronts can now be analyzed with a holographic raytracing design program. The recording wavefronts are defined by analytical phase functions, for example, a two -dimensional ...

Supersingular Galois Representations and a Generalization of a Conjecture of Serre

Serre’s conjecture relates two-dimensional odd irreducible Galois representations over F̄p to modular forms. We discuss a generalization of this conjecture to higher-dimensional Galois representations. In particular, for n-dimensional Galois representations which are irreducible when restricted to the decomposition group at p, we strengthen a conjecture of Ash, Doud, and Pollack. We then give co...

Translating between Horn Representations and Their Characteristic Models Translating between Horn Representations and Their Characteristic Models

Characteristic models are an alternative, model based, representation for Horn expressions. It has been shown that these two representations are incomparable and each has its advantages over the other. It is therefore natural to ask what is the cost of translating , back and forth, between these representations. Interestingly, the same translation questions arise in database theory, where it ha...
